Today The Sandbox and Warner Music Group (WMG) have announced a marquee partnership. Together they will create the first music-themed world in The Sandbox. The announcement marks WMG’s first entry into the metaverse and another huge partnership for The Sandbox.
The Sandbox partnership marks Warner Music Group’s entry into the metaverse
Warner Music Group’s LAND in The Sandbox will be a mix between a theme park and a concert venue. That is to say that the two teams will work together to develop immersive musical experiences in the metaverse. In this way, WMG artists will be able to interact with fans across the globe in innovative and exciting ways.
Without a doubt, Warner Music Group is one of the biggest music companies in the world. Indeed, it houses some of music’s top acts under major record labels like Warner Records, Elektra, Parlophone, and Atlantic. To list just a few of the superstars under the WMG umbrella, there’s Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, David Guetta, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The news means that The Sandbox will now work with WMG to bring its huge talent roster to The Sandbox. As a result, we will see more live events and experiences taking place in the metaverse featuring some of the world’s biggest musicians.
Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer and EVP of Business Development at Warner Music Group had this to say about the partnership:
“Our partnership with The Sandbox adds a new layer of possibility in the metaverse.” She goes on to add that WMG and The Sandbox will create experiences that will “defy real-world limitations and allow our artists and their fans to engage like never before.”
Yet another massive partnership from The Sandbox
In announcing the team up with Warner Music Group, The Sandbox is publicizing another major partnership with an iconic brand. Something that it has been doing consistently for months now.
For one thing, Warner Music Group isn’t the first major name in music to work with The Sandbox. In fact, the platform already has a partnership with superstar musician and NFT collector, Snoop Dogg. Snoop and The Sandbox have hosted two virtual LAND sales so far. The second of which also welcomed DJ Steve Aoki to The Sandbox.
And there are many other big names outside of music in The Sandbox as well.
All kinds of companies, from Adidas to the tax firm PwC Hong Kong, have rushed to buy LAND in the Sandbox. It has partnered with major NFT projects. And as of today, it announced a $50 million metaverse accelerator program in partnership with Brinc.
To celebrate its WMG partnership, The Sandbox will host a LAND sale in February. At that time, fans will have a chance to buy metaverse land close to Warner Music Group’s property. Needless to say, with all that WMG and The Sandbox have in store, that LAND will not likely come cheap!
