Animoca Brands announces a joint venture with Cube Entertainment to build what they are calling a ‘K-pop metaverse.’
Hong Kong-based Unicorn Blockchain Gaming Company Animoca Brands will team up with the Korean entertainment agency Cube Entertainment. The collaboration includes digital collectibles featuring music artists and actors.
Furthermore, Cube Entertainment manages over 50 K-pop artists. The catalogue of stars includes BtoB, Pentagon, (G)I-DLE and Lightsum.
The partnership, announced on Monday, will also allow the two companies to create several NFT collections. These NFTs will celebrate some of K-pop’s most prominent musicians and famous actors that are already on Cube Entertainment’s books.
Additionally, the K-pop metaverse will feature full-length albums, artwork, artist portraits, avatars and much more.
The joint venture will allow genuine digital property rights and other blockchain benefits for artists and fans.
Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, commented, “We can’t wait to work with Cube Ent and its roster of K-pop artists”. He also declared, “We continue our efforts to make the open metaverse a reality.”
In reply, Ahn Woo Hyung, CEO of Cube Ent, said, “We anticipate this will be an important beginning for leading the global digital culture market.”
Cube Entertainment in the K-pop metaverse
Established in 2006, Cube Entertainment operates many different roles. It operates as a talent agency, record label, production company, and publishing house.
Generally, what Cube does is find amateur artists and transform them into household names. By developing the artists, they have seen considerable success.
Cube is now an industry leader. As well as the artists mentioned already, they have produced several superstars in the past.
These artists are 4MINUTE, BEAST, G.NA, BTOB, PENTAGON, CLC, (G)I-DLE, and LIGHTSUM. The company also recruits actors and entertainers, such as Park Mi Sun (박미선), Lee Hwee Jae (이휘재), Lee Sang Jun (이상준), Kim Kyung Ah (김경아), Heo Kyeong Hwan (허경환), Lee Eun Ji (이은지).
In the future, the K-pop metaverse will include a lot of these big names. Cube hopes to expand its platform and fan base across Asia, Europe and North America.
