Decentraland wants a piece of the play-to-earn action! It is coming on strong by launching an incubator initiative that aims to accelerate the adoption of the hottest digital gaming trend that’s taking the metaverse by storm.
Through this program, three teams will have the opportunity to lead the play-to-earn charge of Decentraland. The best part? The platform promises to give them wings to kickstart a “blockchain gaming revolution” by providing financial support and mentorship.
Decentraland’s Incubator Initiative
Decentraland’s incubator program is designed to identify budding developers with the potential of becoming the next Axie Infinity, Zed Run or Gods Unchained. Then, provide them with the right technology and machinery to build a P2E ecosystem. Take note that the Foundation will be scouting for and accepting applications for a maximum of three teams only. Qualified applicants are those projects already inside Decentraland and external to the platform. As long as the project grants MANA and LAND leases, they are free to give the program a shot!
After the Foundation selects its talent pool, they will match them to a prestigious line-up of mentors and advisors. In short, Decentraland will provide them with everything they need in order to build a high-potential project. One of the key milestones is ensuring that the minimum viable product should be ready by three months.
Those who won’t be able to make the cut should not despair because the Foundation teased that more opportunities might open up in the future. According to the press release, a soon-to-be-announced partner is coming on board to match the Decentraland’s investment. Thus, the Foundation might onboard and fund additional three teams.
If you think you have what it takes, then act fast and send a proposal to creators@decentraland.org. The Foundation will evaluate the project based on the description of the game concept and the team. They also require proof of work detailed in a portfolio as well as the project’s roadmap and deliverables. The aspiring applicants should detail the assistance that they will require from the backers.
Can P2E Thrive on Decentraland?
Decentraland made a mark in the NFT scene by creating a virtual world where users can buy, build, and sell digital real estate, artworks, or NFTs. The project is confident that with their fully-fledged SDK, a vibrant community, and paired with a smooth Layer 2 integration (Polygon), they can romp up a P2E ecosystem.
As it is, the metaverse is home to several P2E economies where users can participate in order to earn. Ethermon, for instance, is a monster-catching role-playing, play-to-earn game. Here, you can buy Ethermon NFTs and battle with others. Then, WonderMine, where players can mine meteors, collect loot and craft materials that can be turned into Decentralad Wearables.
The platform has traction in the gaming space because developers can easily create games on their LAND using Decentraland’s Software Development Kit. So what the incubator initiative aims to achieve is to replicate and amplify the early successes of Decentraland in the P2E scene.
