Good news, Neighbors! On August 31st, the My Neighbor Alice pre-alpha test version will be open for playtesting. This means that ALICE token holders can finally explore the introductory chapter of the game until September 30th. Since this is the first-ever playable test, the functionalities will be limited but enough to show a glimpse of the final product which will be released in Spring next year.
Setting Expectations: My Neighbor Alice Test Version
The main objective of the test version is to introduce NFT holders to the Lummesta town. So as players take a stroll around the digital town, they can play through the first chapter of the game. Along the way, they will meet some of the locals (NPCs) which will give some simple quests to complete. Furthermore, players can meet and chat with fellow players and explore the town together.
One of the game’s main draws is how it allows anyone to buy and own virtual lands, collect and build exciting items, and meet new friends. Thus, these are some of the functionalities that the community is looking forward to. Unfortunately, the test version will not include transacting in the marketplace, visiting your plot, building and landscaping. Crucial to note that the play-to-earn model is not yet included in this version.
Since gameplay is limited, what is the purpose of releasing a pre-alpha version?
Converting Insights to Strategies
According to the team, one of the main reasons why they’re conducting this open playtest for ALICE token holders is to generate feedback on the game. “We’d love to hear your thoughts about the My Neighbor Alice world, gameplay and the characters and create an even better experience together with you in our community.”
The team is serious about generating insights that can possibly be turned into a strategy so they are rewarding participants. The 100 surveys with the best-written feedback will receive an NFT giveaway from My Neighbor Alice. To be eligible, participants need to submit their feedback in the survey form before October 1st.
Rewarding participation is crucial because progress will not be saved. The team explained that “before the main launch of the game, the blockchain is subject to resets and that erases all progress in-game done during the testing period.”
How to Get Access to the Pre-Alpha Testing
To access the playtest, participants need to have a steam account, a Chromia Vault and 1 ALICE token which they can get back later. The team requires a deposit to reward supporters of the project and restrict access to ALICE token holders. Moreover, the game will give landowners priority access.
What is My Neighbor Alice and Why Should You Be Excited?
Anyone can join the world by buying a piece of land, participating in farming, fishing, bug catching, beekeeping, and many other activities. There are also quests that players can do together, while others are more competitive.
To add more utility, the project plans to add DeFi elements to the game. NFTs will have collateral, making them more liquid and therefore economically usable. Each NFT gives a monthly interest for holding it, but token holders can also tap into the value.
The DeFi component works by routing a share of every NFT purchase into a collateral pool and tied to that particular NFT. If a user needs money but there’s no buyer, they can lock their NFT and get the collateral instead. The NFT becomes locked and users then need to pay back the money in order to regain control over their digital assets.
