Welcome to “An NFT Evening With…”, a weekly feature where we shine a spotlight on some of the talented NFT artists in our community. Last week we dove into cyberpunkian surrealism with Alex Benedith. But this week we’re getting impressionistic with artventurus, a self-taught artist and animator. Read on to find out how she achieves her signature style, and her views on the NFT community…
NFT Evening: Your work is absolutely gorgeous, and really stands apart in the NFT art scene. How did you get into this in the first place?
artventurus: I heard about NFTs from a friend over Instagram.
NFTE: Smart friend! So what inspired you to give it a try?
artventurus: The idea of a virtual space where art could thrive and gain exposure as well as sales really connected with me and as passionate as I am about art I jumped right in!
NFTE: You call it a “space where art could thrive and gain exposure,” which is something we hear often in the crypto world. Do you feel as though the NFT art world is different than, say, the Instagram art world? Is one more supportive than the other, or more helpful?
artventurus: I believe both platforms are supportive and productive in their own ways however with the NFT space being new and really picking up I feel there’s a lot more vigor, passion and sense of wanting to be seen and heard and even help others find a place as well.
NFTE: Speaking of passion, your art is just bursting with it. Where do you find your inspiration, to create the kinds of works you do?
artventurus: I get inspired by everything around me, from inanimate objects to media, nature, ideas, stories, characters to emotions. Everything has a story to tell and everything is an expression of something.
NFTE: And that brings me to your work “The Killing Joke.” Can you tell us a bit about it?
artventurus: This special artwork came to be as an unplanned surprise really, one of my followers challenged me to paint a personal rendition of my favorite character and I was inspired by the Joker’s rich persona and expressive quality! I love playing around with the colors and making it as expressive and creatively bold as possible.
NFTE: It’s really beautiful. It has the feeling of motion to it, and chaos. How do you create works like that? Is it all digital, or hybrid, or is it a secret?
artventurus: Thank you so much! It is all digital but I’m a huge fan of the traditional impressionistic, expressive style so I try to emulate that in my digital works. I’m learning colors, brushwork and a splash of imagination can really bring your art to life!
NFTE: They really do. It’s so captivating. When you create works the way you do, what do you hope people will feel or say about it?
artventurus: I aspire to achieve a level where my art could tell stories and relay emotions, spark conversations and invite interest. I would like people to relate to my art and feel an emotional or intuitive connection that makes them feel calm, inspired and joyful.
NFTE: Do you have any other NFT artists whose work you enjoy?
artventurus: Absolutely! I love @RobbinsArtist @nftmika @ClarkMitchelArt @fobos_art @XpRnz and many more in the NFT space.
NFTE: There are so many great artists to choose from! So let me close out with a huge question, if I can: what do you think is the future of NFTs, and how do you see yourself in that future?
artventurus: I hope to see the NFT business take off worldwide and become a stable market where all kinds of artists from all backgrounds can really benefit and form allies, support systems and overcome boundaries. I plan to get big in the NFT market, really establish a name for myself and gain great exposure for my art.
NFTE: Do you think that’s more possible in NFTs than in the traditional art world? If so, do you have any thoughts as to why NFTs might be opening doors for so many people?
artventurus: I believe NFTs hold more potential than the traditional art world because with the internet the world has become a global village and people from all backgrounds and aspects of life can gather virtually and enjoy art like never before.
The NFT platform is a new and refreshing way into introducing art to a larger audience and allowing all kinds of art enthusiasts to collect, support and marvel at their favorite works that weren’t possible before. It is a chance for artists everywhere big and small to showcase their talents to a variety of audiences and open business and entrepreneurship opportunities for small artists such as myself 🙂
A huge thank you to artventurus for taking the time to talk with us this week. You can follow her on Twitter, Instagram, Artstation and Foundation.
