The New Job
Mark Bozon has been hired by Disney to head their Metaverse creative strategy. Bozon is a veteran in the tech space, working with Apple for 12 years in various positions. These included the Games Creative Director of Apple Arcade and a Senior Games Editor of the App Store. Before this, he worked with IGN and Electronic Gaming Monthly in writing/editing roles.
Disney has made this move so that Bozon can help oversee the company’s push into the ever-expanding metaverse space. The official job title is VP of Next Generation Storytelling Creative Experiences. He is set to build a team across the company to build new immersive experiences.
Mark Bozon was hired by Mike White, who shares a similar title of senior VP of Next Generation Storytelling and Consumer Experiences.
Disney Metaverse Ventures
Disney has been big on NFTs. In particular, with their partnership with VeVe, they have released several from their different branches, including Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars.
The company’s CEO, Bob Chapek, has shown his clear intentions in building and profiting from this building industry through his hiring of Mike White, and the development of this team within the company.
Chapek has previously told CNBC that he sees the metaverse as “a third dimension” of opportunity.
With Disney, so much could happen in the Metaverse. One example that fans have been thinking up includes a Disney theme park in the metaverse, through a platform like The Sandbox or Decentraland. However, they may look to create their own platform to profit.
With the characters and licenses that they have the rights to, an absolute hit would almost be certain.
