The popular Yuga Labs project Meebits has just made its way to The Sandbox metaverse. On Wednesday, The Sandbox officially announced that Meebits holders can explore this metaverse using their NFTs as avatars.
About The Sandbox x Meebits partnership
The Sandbox announced this partnership via Twitter: “@MeebitsNFTs are entering The Sandbox! Now, you can play #SandboxAlphaS3 as your Meebit Avatar! Jump right in!” Undoubtedly, this partnership continues to emphasise Web 3’s interoperable spirit.
This is not the first time The Sandbox collaborated with popular NFT collections. It is the 19th NFT collection to be included in The Sandbox metaverse. Other high-profile partnerships include Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen, Alec Monopoly’s MetaMuseum, and Paris Hilton’s Malibu Mansion.
Additionally, a few months ago, The Sandbox incorporated another Yuga Labs project – Bored Ape Yacht Club. On August 22, it announced the inclusion of every version of every Ape into its metaverse. Therefore, this Meebits collaboration expands The Sandbox’s relationship with Yuga Labs.
Will these collaborations boost The Sandbox’s active users?
According to recent reports, The Sandbox has 616 daily active users, with fellow metaverse Decentraland having 379 active users. However, both metaverses have a market cap of over $1.2 billion.
Therefore, collaboration with popular NFT projects like The Sandbox could boost user engagement and the number of daily active users. Undoubtedly, The Sandbox has poor daily engagement compared to popular Web2 games like Roblox, which has 54.1 million daily active users. This may be due to the fact that the metaverse is still in its infancy and that many still see metaverses as investments, not as worlds with engaged communities.
