Toonstar, a Web3 animation studio, has announced that its breakout adult animated series, The Gimmicks, will launch a second season on the Avalanche blockchain. Hollywood veteran writers, Dave Ihlenfeld and David Wright, who worked on Family Guy and Star Trek, will continue as executive producers of the series. Additionally, Riverdale’s Mark Consuelos will join The Gimmicks team as Executive Producer and voice talent.
About The Gimmick’s new season
The Gimmicks embraced Web3 early on. It gave NFT holders the ability to influence storylines and character arcs. The model proved to be incredibly successful, kicking off an industry trend.
Toonstar’s proprietary technologies enable NFT holders to interact on-chain. This led to over 70 thousand weekly on-chain actions, and over 1 million votes and messages in just three months. As a result, Toonstar will expand Web3 opportunities in the new The Gimmick’s season. The community will be able to interact on-chain with “Upvoting” (a Reddit-like forum), as well as “Hot or Not” (a Rotten Tomatoes-like rating board).
“Audience engagement and retention is suffering across all platforms with traditional Hollywood content, but our model is bucking the trend,” said John Attanasio, CEO and Co-founder of Toonstar. “As soon as we started talking with the team from Avalanche, we knew they really understood Hollywood 3.0 and could provide the best technology and support to help us lead the market.”
Avalanche will host The Gimmicks’ Season 2 premiere event at its Ciel Creatives Studios tomorrow. Toonstar will release additional NFTs available to fans throughout the season. Undoubtedly, these will continue to push the boundaries of participatory storytelling and community benefits.
