The Sandbox announced a series of new partners for Mega City 2. This marks the second phase of Hong Kong’s decentralized virtual gaming world within the metaverse. The vibrant cultural hub is a subsidary of Animoca Brands and follows the success of Mega City 1.
The Sandbox LAND
In celebration, The Sandbox is launching a new LAND sale today, April 28. This will allow players to become a part of the Mega City neighborhood through their LAND purchase. Players can purchase premium LANDs which include exclusive NFTs curated by partners. Additionally, LAND owners have the ability to host events, gaming experiences, or social hubs.
The Partnerships
The new partnerships appear promising. New entrants into the space include theme park player Ocean Park, Century City Group’s hotel chain Regal Hotels Group, education and information technology firm EVI, venture acceleration firm Brinc, non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace MADworld, gaming firm Gameone and music learning startup Chord Hero. These represent the finest in tourism, hospitality, culture, media, education, banking, investment, music, and entertainment. Partnerships enable The Sandbox to build a culturally vibrant community that represents the city.
“Our new partners bring some of the best of what makes Hong Kong a multi-cultural, vibrant city while sharing our creative vision of building an open metaverse. They are reinventing themselves and innovating through The Sandbox platform to offer unique virtual experiences,” said Sebastien Borget, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of The Sandbox.
The Vision
The Sandbox embraces the idea of the metaverse as a space where everyone can own, create and monetize content. It’s part virtual real estate, part theme park, in a sense. The platform has previously partnered with major IPs and brands such as Warner Music Group, Ubisoft, Gucci Vault, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Adidas, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Atari and more. The soul of the Mega City neighborhood has always been its people.
The Alpha Season 2 wrapped with over 2.7 million registered users, hinting at a bright future for launch. The Sandbox continues to bring fresh talent, culture and innovation, as the Mega City project enters into its second phase.
