A couple from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is all set to host a Hogwarts-themed wedding reception in the Metaverse. Yup, you heard that right! Dinesh S P and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy are the two who have decided to host a metaverse wedding reception. While the duo will get married in their village, Sivalingapuram, they will hold a digital reception in collaboration with TardiVerse Metaverse on the Polygon blockchain.
“I feel so proud and blessed that I have seen and taken advantage of many great opportunities in this world before millions of people have seen them,” Dinesh tweeted.
All about India’s first metaverse wedding
Dinesh and Janaganandhini’s metaverse wedding reception is the first-of-its-kind in India. The groom, who has been working on blockchain for the past year, came up with the idea.
“One fine day, I came across a video on Metaverse on YouTube. I thought why can’t we do an event in Metaverse?” he told The Indian Express. “I know the future is big in Metaverse…So I thought by conducting an event, everyone in India will know about the technology.”
Besides, as the bride’s father passed away last year, Dinesh is planning to have his digital avatar in the metaverse wedding reception. “I have been planning to bring him in virtually and make him a part of the event. He will be there as a 3D avatar, bless us in the Metaverse,” he further said.
The reception will take place in TardiVerse metaverse in February. TardiVerse is a startup based in Chennai, headed by Vignesh Selvaraj. Wedding guests can log in through the website and attend the reception as avatars of their choice. The couple’s metaverse wedding reception is a clear signal of where the Web3 future is headed!
